Fredas 31st Last Seed
I left Chorrol just after noon to find Kvatch, and to find Martin. There were two roads for me to choose between and one was sign posted with an arrow to the Imperial City. I thought Kvatch must be in the other direction then, and I set off up the hill. I found two bandits attacking a black horse. I let loose an arrow but my aim must have been off for it hit the horse by mistake, thus killing it. I did find my marks with two more arrows though. I continued up the hill until I saw marauders and knights doing battle. it was a fierce and bloody battle and the knights would have all been slain had I not turned up when I did. After the battle a surviving knight gave me something. It was the deed to the castle that had been under siege. The previous owner's will stated that whomever save the castle from its attackers may become its new owner.

I left early this morning - just after dawn - to make my way to Chorrol. I was attacked by a highwayman when I refused to give him 100 gold. Knowing that I would likely lose the fight when a wild dog also joined in attacking me, I ran as fast as I could towards Chorrol. I arrived at what I later discovered to be Weynon Priory with the highwayman still persuing. My only option was to fight. The battle ended atop the chapel rooftop when I managed to land a fatal blow with my sword. At the priory I found Jauffre. He told me where to find the heir to the Septim throne - a man named Martin working as a priest in the city of Kvatch. As urgent as it is to find Martin, I must first recover from my long run from near Aleswell. I shall have a look around Chorrol while I catch my breath.

Turdas 30th Last Seed
I had intended on spending the night in the Imperial City before making my way to Chorrol in the morning. Now that I have a free bed in Aleswell, however, I have decided to stay here instead. I shall pass the time before I go to bed reading the books Ancotar - the invisible illusionist - allowed me to take. I shall also have to go hunting for some food as all that Diram, keeper of Aleswell Inn, has to offer is the buffet. I don't think I am hungry enough to get my golds worth at the moment so a bit of venison will do nicely. I shall probably leave early and have breakfast in Chorrol.

Despite saying I wouldn't rush into danger until I am more competent at defending myself, when I came across the village of Aleswell, that Malene had told me was deserted, I had to find out what was going on. I soon spotted a rake floating in the air tending to the pumpkin patch. When I had a closer look a voice told me to speak with someone in the inn. I did and I found out an illusionist had turned everyone in town invisible. They asked me to persuade him to fix the problem and, despite my promise to myself, I did my best to. They pointed me in the direction of a nearby fort but inside I found only evil conjurers. I fled outside and an unseen force slew the conjured monsters. He then told me how to reverse the invisibility. Now I have a free bed in the Aleswell inn whenever I need it.

Malene, the owner of Roxy Inn asked me to kill a witch that lived in a nearby cave. This witch would summon the dead and the danger this brought to the area impacted on Malene's business. Eager to help, I ventured into the cave. It was much more difficult to rid Nirn of this witch than I had anticipated. The cave was full of Keepers of the Dead and they repeatedly summoned zombies and skeletons to keep me too busy to attack them. I had to tempt them to follow me outside, and then I ran into the inn. The patrons all seemed much more adept at fighting than I, and they outnumbered and overpowered the witches. These recent days have made me realise how much training I need before I stray to far from civilisation.

Garrus came into the Bridge Inn with good news. Ulrich had been jailed for his actions and Garrus was promoted to Captain. He gave me some much appreciated gold for my troubles. That left me with my mission completed around two hours after midday. It was time for me to make my way to Chorrol to find Jauffre. On the way I decided to explore a mine I'd been past on my way into Cheydinhal days ago. What a mistake. Inside I found Vampires who tried to make a meal out of me. Thinking that they would not chase me in the sunlight, I fled outside. I was wrong. They chased me across the hills until I became quite lost. I managed to lose them but also find some marauders in an Ayleid ruin. When I escaped from them I found the Daedra Shrine to Vaermina. I arrived here in Roxy Inn near the Imperial City very late last night.

Middas 29th Last Seed
I have investigated the fines issued in Cheydinhal. The guard ranked second to the Guard Captain has been a great help. He did not agree with Ulrich, the Captain, and asked me to persuade Aldos - a dark elf hit hardest by the recent death of his wife and the fines - to be a witness. Unfortunately Aldos was, and has been since my arrival in Cheydinhal, drunk. He decided to stand up to the guard in front of his house, and he was subsequently killed. This forced our hand somewhat and I had to sneak into Ulrich's quarters to find incriminating evidence. I did find a letter proving his guilt and Garrus, the second in command, has taken it to Indarys, Count of Cheydinhal, and told me to wait here in the Bridge Inn.

This morning begins the second day since my escape from prison and the murder of the Emperor. I have not forgotten the quest he gave me - to take the Amulet of Kings to Jauffre in Weynon Priory near Chorrol. I shall take it soon, but there seems so much left for me in Cheydinhal before I leave. In my time here I have overheard much complaining about heavy fines. They seem unfair. Perhaps it is part of the reason why people here are so grouchy. I shall attempt to find out more on the subject today. Llevana Nedaren seems to be the person who will be able to help me most.

Tirdas 28th Last Seed
It has been a long afternoon. The day started in such a relaxed way. Perhaps it put me slightly off guard. The Orc woman in the general store told me about some nearby attractions. I made a note of them at the bottom of this page so I would not forget them. Before I did any exploring I had to go and meet Rythe Lythandas - the famous painter. Unfortunately, when I arrived at his home only his wife was in. She told me that Rythe was missing. I insisted I help her find him. Turns out he was trapped in a painting. I freed him from his oily prison and made some more friends in this unfriendly town. Afterwards I set off to explore Rickety Mine. I found Amazons who tried to kill me. I fled and was saved only by the town guard. I think I'll practice my skills more before I go back there.

I returned to the lodge late last night - too late to write in this journal. I have spent this morning reading the books I found in Fort Farragut yesterday. There were four on the history of the empire. They gave brief accounts of the reigns of Tamriel's rulers since the time of Tiber Septim up until Uriel Septim VII. The very man I saw assassinated early yesterday morning. I also read a book about Cheydinhal. The author seems to have also had a bad experience with the locals. I did not at all agree with their review of Newlands Lodge and the owner, Dervera. She is one of the few hospitable people in this town. Still, I think I'll keep quiet about the money I made from selling things I found in the fort.

Morndas 27th Last Seed
I left the east Gate of Cheydinhal perhaps two hours ago. I wandered along the road and met a travelling trader. It was fortunate he was there. If he had not been then the wolves would have surely killed me. Oh, I'm not as fit as I once was - all that time in prison has left me out of practise.
After healing myself from the wounds those dogs gave me I stumbled into an old fort. Farragut. It was occupied by undead - skeleton soldiers and archers. My bow was enough to take them out in one shot, however, and I managed to find a Fine Iron Bow on one of the archers. I delved deeper into the fort and came across a room. It looks lived in! I wonder what calls this place home. They cannot be moral. This is how I persuaded my consience into allowing me to take some of their loot.

Whilst I am here in Cheydinhal I have decided to have a look around. The first local I met, Dervera the inn keeper, was nice enough. She rented out a room for me for only 10 gold. Unfrotunately it seems to be that she is the, or one of the very few, nice people in this town. I spoke to Orcs and Dunmer who didn't even give me the time of day. Even an Imperial guard only had kindness enough to tell me if I step a single toe out of line I'll be fined to my teeth.
I did find some friendly people in the Chapel of Arkay, however, as well as a beggar outside. I'd have given him a coin for some food if I had some to spare. I write this entry from a pew in the chapel before I head out of the town gates to find out what's nearby. Perhaps I'll find something good.

Last time I wrote here I was sat on an uncomfortable stool in the Imperial City Prison. How things have changed since then! I followed the Emperor into the tunnel in my cell until he went through a heavy door and locked it so I couldn't follow further. I had to find an alternate route. There was one to be found behind a crumbling wall. I tread carefully and did my best to kill the rats and goblins I encountered from a distance - a much easier task once I'd found an old, nearly broken bow and some arrows.
Eventually I caught up to the Emperor just in time to see him assassinated! But not before he charged me with a quest to find Jauffre and present him with the Amulet of Kings. Else the gates of Oblivion shall open. I have ended up in an inn in Cheydinhal after choosing the wrong path in a world I have lost familiarity with.

Nothing has happened in this God forsaken prison for an entire year. Today is Harvest's End, and there will be a party in every inn and tavern across Tamriel. I had accepted that I would miss the festivities but the most peculiar thing has just happened. I was having one of the joyful chats with Dreth when none other than Uriel Septim, Emperor of the land, paid a special visit to my cell. I overheard him talking with his escorting guards about the murders of his three sons. Then he came into my cell and spewed some nonsense about fate and destiny before disappearing into a secret passage behind the wall of my cell. I've been saving this journal until I was released from jail, and here is a big tunnel asking me to leave my cell. Maybe I'll get to a party after all.
